Counter Strike 2 will finally be released this month!

Counter Strike has been a beloved game among gamers for many years, with its latest iteration, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), released in 2012. However, rumors of a new version, possibly named Counter-Strike 2, have been circulating for years, with many considering it to be just rumors. But over the weekend, the journalist Richard Lewis reported that a new version of CS:GO is on its way. And it will be made using the Source 2 engine.

According to Lewis’s sources, a beta for this new version could launch in March. With April 1st being the latest possible date. Additionally, a recent NVIDIA leak supports Lewis’s report, as two new executable files have been introduced that are apparently related to the upcoming version ahead of its beta launch.

The team working on this new version includes members who oversaw the development of previous iterations in the Counter-Strike franchise. However, CS:GO has had some issues that have been largely unattended for a while. And the involvement of these experienced team members might explain why they have not been addressed.

The new version of CS:GO will be made in Source 2 and is said to have improved matchmaking. And a 128 tick rate, which brings it in line with rival title Valorant. While some have speculated that the new version could be called Counter Strike 2, Gabefollower, a notable CS:GO leaker, disagrees and claims that it will be called CS:GO Source 2 instead. They have also confirmed that players’ skins will be available in the new version.

Regardless of what the new version will be called, it seems that Counter-Strike fans will be getting an upgrade soon. This is exciting news for fans of the tactical shooter, which has continued to grow in popularity over the years. In fact, the Steam concurrent player numbers suggest that CS:GO is more popular than ever in 2023.

Valve, the developer of CS:GO, has yet to comment on the situation. However, fans will only have to wait a month to find out if this new version is real. With the metionned imporvements, the new version of CS:GO is sure to attract old fans and new players alike.
