Samsung has left the TouchWiz ghost behind thanks to One UI. Nowadays, the company is much faster when it comes to rolling out major Android updates. Not long after the Android 11 update, Samsung unveiled its own One UI 3.0 firwmare for their handsets. The brand rolled out the firmware update for its 2020 flagships and then moved to the 2019 flagships. Now, the brand is focusing in the mid-tier market. Today, it’s time for the Samsung Galaxy M21 to get contemplated with the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update.
So far, the update seems to be reaching only the Indian variants of the handset. Interestingly, the firmware was originally scheduled for March. Samsung went ahead of its schedule by one month at last. The new firmware carries M215FXXU2BUAC and comes with all the goodies introduced by One UI 3.0. It has a revamped UI and media controls. Moreover, the update brings the whole set of Android 11 goodies such as more organized notifications, one-time permissions for apps, and chat bubbles notifications. Interestingly, the update also adds January 2021 security patch to the package.
The update weighs in at 1.7GB so have this in mind to avoid exceeding your data. It’s rolling out in an incremental manner, so may take a few days to reach all eligible units. If everything goes as planned, Samsung may push a broader rollout in the coming days. You can try to force check this update by going to Settings >> About Phone >> Software Update >> Download and Install. Interestingly, the handset is the second mid-range phone today to get the aforementioned update. The Galaxy F41 got the update a few hours ago.
The Galaxy M21 flaunts a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. The cutout serves as a house for a 20MP selfie snapper with an f/2.2 aperture. Moving around to the back, the phone has a 48MP wide camera with PDAF. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP depth module. Under the hood, the phone has an Exynos 9611 (10nm) chipset. It’s an Octa-core SoC with 4x 2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 cores & 4x 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. The handset is available in variants with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal Storage. It also has a high-tier version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage. If you want to extend this storage amount, you can use a microSD card slot.
