Apple sometimes releases the “iPhone SE” model as a “lower version” earlier in the year. In April last year, Apple released the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone SE (2020). This device comes with a top configuration like the latest Bionic A13 processor at the time. However, it still uses a small screen (4.7 inches) and the screen-to-body ratio is just 65.4%. As of 2020, the average smartphone display is 6-inch and the screen-to-body ratio never goes below 85%. Thus, the iPhone SE 2 is obviously behind in its display setting. However, it now appears that things will change with the iPhone SE 3.
The market performance of the iPhone SE 2 is far from impressive. Many customers did not appreciate the screen (size and display ratio, camera, charging, etc. They were nowhere near what a 2020 smartphone should have. Nevertheless, recent reports claim that the iPhone SE 3 will not follow the same path.
According to the latest analysis of JP Morgan Chase, Apple will bring a new iPhone SE 3 model in 2022. The company will not only improve the processor again, it will also change the design.
Analysts said that due to the global hot sales of the iPhone 11 series, Apple will introduce the appearance of the iPhone 11 for the iPhone SE 3 model. The screen will be upgraded to a 6.1-inch LCD notch display. This is the first time that Apple has equipped the iPhone SE series with a comprehensive screen design.
At the same time, the camera will also use the same configuration as the iPhone 11. It will come with a 12-megapixel dual-camera solution with a 120° ultra-wide-angle lens. This camera will offer a much better camera experience and it also supports optical image stabilization.
In terms of core configuration, the iPhone SE 3 will use the latest Bionic A14 processor. Its power will be exactly the same as the top-of-the-line flagship model. Although its performance will be strong, it may reduce support for 5G networks.
It is worth mentioning that there are some reports that iPhone SE 3 may add a new side fingerprint recognition. Because of the current pandemic, the Face ID facial recognition experience is very bad. Users will have to remove their mask to use Face ID and this practice is not safe. Apple will introduce the on-screen fingerprints for the iPhone 13 series (or iPhone 12S series). Since the iPhone SE 3 will use an LCD display, it can not use the on-screen fingerprint technology.
