Huawei is expected to announce the Mate 30 series around September this year. As usual, the rumour mills will be kept buzzing with leaks concerning the device. Over the past few years, the Mate 30 Pro has always stolen the show and this year isn’t going to be different. A leaked screen panel said to be for the Mate 30 Pro shows the device will adopt a rather unique design.
The screen panel shared by popular Twitter tipster @Iceuniverse shows the device will have curved sides with the curvature almost making an angle of 90°. The device is expected to utilise a 6.71-inch OLED panel which will probably make holding the phone without your palm touching the side of the screen impossible. That shouldn’t be a problem, though, as it will likely be taken care of with Palm rejection feature.
This leak is in sync with a recent report from Huawei’s factory which says the company is experimenting with a glass unibody, which will join the curvatures of the front and back glass panes. We could see that materialize on the Mate 30 Pro. However, we have no idea how Huawei hopes to take care of the side capacitive keys. With a curved edge glass panel, there isn’t a chance the device will have physical keys. That can only happen if the manufacturer wants to make the device bulky which isn’t going to happen. It is possible the device will use virtual buttons on the curved edge.
In addition, the tipster also shared an image showing the silhouette of the Mate 30 Pro’s notch and it is a big one. At a time, fans are looking for notch-less phones, this may be disappointing to some.
