MediaTek 5G SoC running score defeats the Snapdragon 8 Gen2

Taiwanese chip maker, MediaTek is one of the top chip brands in the world. At some point, this company takes the top spot as the largest mobile chip brand in the world. However, despite all its prowess in the global market, it falls short in the flagship sector. Qualcomm has long been the top brand for mobile phones when it comes to the flagship market. According to popular Weibo tech blogger @DCS, MediaTek Dimensity 9200+'s AnTuTu score exceeds 1.35 million points. This means that the chip surpasses its main rival, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2. Recall that the AnTuTu score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 is around 1.33 million points.

Gizchina News of the week

Dimensity 9200+ is MediaTek's strongest chip

The strongest chip made by MediaTek as of today is this chip. It uses the 4nm process from TSMC and has a super core, three large cores, and four small cores. The Cortex-A715 is an update from the Cortex-A710 from last year, but the Cortex-A510 in the small core remains intact. It's worth noting that all of MediaTek Dimensity 9200+'s performance cores handle 64-bit-only programs. More bandwidth may be supported by 64-bit, which also increases APP efficiency. The multi-threaded 64-bit architecture performs the same task when compared to the 32-bit architecture, and the compression and decompression have 92% and 80% gains, respectively.

Furthermore, Dimensity 9200+ features hardware-level ray tracing and variable rate rendering technologies, enabling the mobile ray tracing effects of soft shadow, mirror reflection, and refraction. iQOO Neo8 will introduce this chip to the general public. It is MediaTek's flagship chip and is expected to launch in May at the earliest to compete with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen2. After the iQOO Neo8, there will certainly be other flagship Android phones to use this chip. However, whether or not this chip will be popular like Snapdragon chips remains to be seen. However, it will be a good competition and a good thing for Android phones if it performs well.
