Automobiles and computers chip have something in common – both were revolutionary inventions of their time. Vehicles have evolved quite a lot in the past few years, and tech is now a vital part of this segment. Car makers are adding more and more tech to make their products stand against the competition. The rise of tech brought an important revolution to the segment. Nowadays, cars come with park assist systems, media, integrated GPS, and web navigation. For this amount of tech, we need a strong processor, right? MediaTek wants to become a powerful force in this class and presents today its new Dimensity Auto chipset.
The tech giants are doing their best to get a slice of this important market. apple has CarPlay and google has android Auto. NVIDIA is also in this segment with ADAS chips, and Qualcomm also provides chips to handle media and other tasks on vehicles. For that reason, it's not a surprise to see MediaTek entering this segment. With the rise of new “smart car makers” like, for example, xiaomi, the firm wants to be ready to become a strong supplier in this category.
Dimensity Auto – a powerful suite of features for cars
The new Dimensity Auto stands as a suite for smart vehicles. The firm promises to revamp the segment with power efficiency and performance. The suit comes as an all-in-one solution for the future of this segment. It is split into multiple categories. There is Dimensity Auto Cockpit for infotainment. As per the firm, it comes to be the world's fastest smart cockpit. The chip uses high-performance AI multi-processors for deep learning and vision processing.

The new chip comes with the cutting-edge 3nm process. The Auto Cockpit also supports multiple HDR 8K screens with up to 120Hz refresh rates and has an array of streaming and decoding features.
There is also a Dimensity Auto Connect. It will sustain the connection with 5g NTN tech and 5G RedCap. The suite also features carrier aggregation, Wi-Fi 7 support, multi-pair Bluetooth, and GNSS support for precise geolocation.
Next, we have Dimensity Auto Drive which is ready for a future with auto driving. Last but not least, we have the Auto Components. It's the firm's way to keep the supply of components and tech for its partners. The company is offering a shop for automotive companies with competitive prices. Besides offering the technology, MediaTek goes forward to make the deal attractive for potential partners.
It's impressive to see MediaTek ready to jump into this new trend. We don't think there is a new car coming from them anytime soon, but we expect their systems to quickly enter this rising tech-car segment.
