The much-loved Grand Theft Auto V will hit its ten-year mark this September. Originally released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game has made countless numbers of fans throughout the past years. The game's success has made players eager to get their hands on GTA VI. Well, the good news is that the next installment was officially confirmed in February.
That is, Rockstar has already confirmed that GTA VI was ‘well underway.' But, Rockstar did not disclose any possible release dates or provide an expected timeline. And while many thought the latest earnings report would finally give a semi-official announcement of the game, it did the complete opposite!
GTA VI Was Likely Delayed to April 2024 – March 2025 Timeframe
A month earlier, industry analysts speculated that Rockstar could release GTA 6 in fiscal year 2024. For those wondering, that runs from April 2023 to March 2024. The analyst considered the $9 billion projected in the net booking of Take-Two for that fiscal year.

However, according to the subsequent call and Q4 2023 earning report of Take-Two, the forecast has changed. Take-Two reports net bookings of $5.28 billion for the recently concluded fiscal year. It saw huge growth thanks to the strong last quarter of GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA Online, and Zynga's mobile portfolio.
But the main part is that Take-Two offered new forecasts for the next three fiscal years. And in 2024, it now expects to earn $5.45 billion to $5.55 billion in net bookings. This is a significant change from the previously projected revenue of $9 billion, and unfortunately, GTA VI is not included in the list of upcoming titles.
That automatically suggests that Rockstar is not planning to release GTA 6 anytime soon. Instead, GTA VI is now likely delayed into fiscal year 2025. Also, it's worth noting that Take-Two forecasts a massive fiscal year 2026. And the reason for that might be the continued revenue from GTA 6.
