Nokia 9 PureView Will Not Receive Android 11 Update, Polish Website Reveals

If you have been following recently, it is no secret that the company is trailing when it comes to updates. Now, there seems to be a different issue for the company altogether.

The company’s 9 PureView, announced with 9 out of the box did receive the Android 10 update, but, now it seems that it will not get the second update for Android 11, despite being a part of the Android One program, with this information coming to us via the Polish website of the company.

9 PureView is Not Going to Receive an Update for Android 11

This is the first time that HMD Global is not going to be living up to its promise of offering two Android updates in a device’s lifecycle.

The official statement mentions that smartphones are created to provide users with the highest user experience every day. This is something for us to be proud of.

That’s why we had to make the difficult decision not to offer a software upgrade to Android 11 for the 9 PureView smartphone. Incompatibilities between the camera and the software would lead to a deterioration in the user experience, which would not meet our high standards.

Nothing will change on your current 9 PureView smartphone and you will continue to receive security updates. However, for users who want to upgrade to Android 11, we offer a 50% discount on the Nokia XR20 smartphone or other X-series device, subject to availability in your region.

What Else is the Company Doing?

Nokia XR20

To tackle this issue, the company is offering a program to upgrade to its XR20 or other X-series device with massive discounts, so as to ease the pain of users who own the 9 PureView.

We only need your email address and the IMEI number of your 9 PureView. You can enter them in the form below. After verifying the IMEI number, we will send you an email with instructions on how to receive the discount.

The XR20 features a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a punch-hole notch to the top, much like the X20, but this one comes with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus protection. A top button is present with the option to map it to specific tasks, making it a welcome addition for technical users of the handset.

Not only this, when it comes to Performance, the device relies on Snapdragon’s 480 SoC with support for 5G. The device boots Android 11 out of the box and will get three years of software updates and four years of security patches.

Optics-wise, the device has a 48MP ZEISS Optics main shooter, with a 13MP ultra-wide shooter and an 8MP front shooter. Stereo speakers, OZO spatial audio and a 4630 mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging and 15W wireless charging is also present.
