HMD Global had to postpone several of its launches due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the second half of 2020 started and most markets have resumed their operations, the Finnish company is ready to unveil new Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones. Nokia recently took to Twitter to tease the launch of new smartphones in the Indian market. Besides the new smart devices, the company will also update is portfolio of basic phones with a new feature phone featuring 4G connectivity.
Nokia India will reveal new devices on August 25 and judging by a leaked poster we are expecting the Nokia C3 debut in the country along with the new feature phone. Despite the imminent device, the company will keep holding launch events before the end of the year and we’ll probably see many more feature phones. Details and renders of Nokia’s upcoming 4G feature phones have surfaced online.
One of the leaked products is a new variant of the Nokia 215 that will likely come as a Nokia 215 (2020) or Nokia 215 4G. It will probably come as the most affordable 4G phone in Nokia Mobile’s phone portfolio. However, the phone will come without a camera. The next in line is the Nokia 225, as can be seen on the renders. The 225 will come with 4G LTE and it will not be dumb as other feature phones since it will support apps like YouTube and Facebook.
The report states that the Nokia 225 received FCC approval with model numbers TA-1316 and TA-1282. The date on the display indicates that both devices were planned to be out on 3rd August. However, HMD had to push back them due to the ongoing pandemic.
Nokia Leo – A feature phone with smart features
Unfortunately, we don’t have the name of the third 4G feature phone coming from the brand. However, the device carries the Nokia Leo Basic codename. Moreover, it is expected to offer support for WhatsApp and Facebook which surely is a plus for devices of this kind. It will also come with a dedicated button on the side of the phone which likely is a Google Assistant button. All three feature phones are likely coming with KaiOS.
Other details like pricing and launch date are not available at the time of this writing. However, we don’t expect HMD to take much time to release them. Also, we expect them to hit a very low price tag. This probably is the biggest factor to justify getting a feature phone in 2020.
