Yesterday, OnePlus confirmed that it will be announcing the OnePlus 9 series of smartphones in global markets at 10 AM ET / 2 PM GMT / 7:30 PM IST. Today, the company confirmed that it will be holding a dedicated launch event in China at 2 PM (local time) on March 24.
The OnePlus 9 series of smartphones are now up for reservations in China through retailer sites like JD.com. The last day for reservations is March 24. While rumors have claimed that the Chinese brand will be announcing phones OnePlus 9E/R, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9 Pro, the company is yet to officially confirm the arrival of all three models.
So far, the company has revealed that the OnePlus will be introducing the custom-made Sony IMX689 lens on the OnePlus 9 series. It will also include T-lens technology-enabled panoramic camera with a 140-degree FOV, and a freeform lens.
The Sony IMX79 lens will offer features like dual native ISO, full-pixel omnidirectional autofocus and real-time HDR processing. It will be capable of recording 4K footages at 120fps. Sony’s Digital Overlap HDR will make it possible to prevent ghosting effects caused by moving objects as it can capture multiple exposures simultaneously.
It is speculated that the OnePlus 9 Pro will be equipped with a 48-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera system. The OnePlus 9 may feature a triple camera system led by a 48-megapixel and it may come with a 16-megapixel front camera. The OnePlus 9 Pro may house a 6.7-inch curved edge AMOLED display, whereas the OnePlus 9 may feature a 6.55-inch flat AMOLED screen. Both phones are said to come with common specs like 120Hz refresh rate support, Snapdragon 888, and a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. The Pro model is expected to come with 45W wireless charging.
