Samsung has confirmed the global launch event of the Galaxy S23 range. It is due on February 1. And as we are getting closer and closer to the official launch event, the leaks are picking up more momentum. From design to specs, we pretty much know all about the series by now.
However, the report that has been going under the radar is about the price of the series. According to that, one model of the upcoming series is about to see a price hike. And the report seems to be reasonably valid.
Prepare to Pay More for the Galaxy S23 Ultra!
The Galaxy S22 sales allegedly fell short of expectations. Samsung was wary of passing the costly phones to the consumers as the Korean giant feared losing them to Apple. And even though it faced rising costs, the brand did not increase the prices of the phones last year.
But now, a Korean outlet has recently stated that the price of the Galaxy S23 Ultra will see a 10 to 20 price rise. A new leaker on the Samsung leakster chain has something to share regarding the topic too.
According to RGcloudS, the prices of the standard Galaxy S23 and the S23 Plus will be the same. So, you can expect the “boringly perfect” phone to debut at $799 for the 8GB/128GB model and $849 for the 8GB/256GB model.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S23 Plus can come at $999 for the 8GB/128GB model and $1049 for the 8GB/256GB model. These two will offer the most bang for the buck, as they have the same price as the predecessors but comes with better SoC, batteries, and a new selfie camera.
The price increase on the Galaxy S23 Plus would have been a risky move for Samsung. According to recent reports, the S22 Plus did not perform well this year. And if Samsung sees the same thing happening with the S23 Plus, we might not see an S24 Plus next year.
Costlier but Better?
As stated, the price hike will apply to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to the leakster, the base model will debut at $1249. Compared to the S22 Ultra, the base model came with 128GB of storage, and it was $1199. So, that is a $50 price increase on the base model.
However, recent leaks confirmed that the base model of the Galaxy S23 Ultra would feature 256GB storage this year. But there will not be any changes in the RAM department. That means that the base S23 Ultra will still debut with 8GB of RAM.
Gizchina News of the week
Moving on, the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant will require you to shell out $1349 out of your pockets. And for the 12GB and 1TB version, you will need to spend a measly $1499.
On that note, the Galaxy S22 Ultra allegedly accounted for 45 percent of total sales. And it was one of the best premium phones of 2022. The successor, Galaxy S23 Ultra, might see similar performance in terms of sales. It will offer a better processor, a great camera, and good overall performance.
So, even though the high-end Galaxy device will see a price, it will not likely sting much to the consumers that are eyeing it. And given that the base model has a storage bump, the price is pretty much justified.
Exclusive Color Variants of Galaxy S23 Ultra Will Not Be Available at Launch
In other news, the exclusive color variants will apparently debut later than the rest of the options. According to the leak, they will be delayed by about two to six weeks. And if you missed it, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will come in Cotton Flower, Misty Lilac, Phantom Black, and Botanic Green. You can learn more about these colors here.
