Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G gets MIUI 12.5 update

The Redmi Note 9 Pro will be getting a successor in the form of the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G on May 26. Ahead of it, Xiaomi is updating the older device to the latest version of MIUI. In other words, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has started receiving the MIUI 12.5 update.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G launched in late November 2020 with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. The phone was updated to 11 at the end of March 2021. Now, two months later, Xiaomi, the parent company of Redmi is rolling out MIUI 12.5 update for this handset.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G MIUI 12.5 update arrives with build number V12.5.2.0.RJSCNXM. Just like any other new MIUI public release, this build is currently in the ‘Stable Beta’ phase.

In simpler words, the new software build is being seeded out in batches. Hence, at the moment, the latest system update is only available for a select few users. But it should be available for everyone in the coming days.

That said, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is sold as Mi 10i in India. The smartphone is also known as Mi 10T Lite (64MP primary camera instead of 108MP) in other markets. Therefore, these two phones could also get the MIUI 12.5 update in near future.
