Reliance Jio, one of India’s top telecom providers recently announced the JioPhone Next, in a collaboration with Google to bring budget devices to more users in India.
Now, it seems that the company is not willing to stop, with 91mobiles reporting with information from tipster Mukul Sharma that the giant is now working on its own tablet and TV, which will likely feature the Jio Tablet and Jio TV moniker.
These two Jio products will likely launch in the country in 2022, with this information coming just days after reports were suggesting that the company is also working on a Jio Laptop.
Jio Could Soon Launch a Tablet, TV in India
As of now, the Jio TV and Jio Tablet specifications are not known to us, but speculation suggests that the two devices will target budget consumers, something that Jio has done with the smartphone.
This new Jio tablet might run PragatiOS out of the box, much like the JioPhone Next, which also runs the company’s in-house operating system that has been built in association with Google for the budget smartphone.
Other expectations include a large screen and Google Play Store support, something that is obviously likely in a tablet. Qualcomm might equip this tablet with a budget or entry-level SoC for tablets.
This tablet will most likely take on budget tablets from the likes of Lenovo, Samsung, Motorola and, in recent times, Realme, which itself announced its first tablet.
Coming to the Jio TV, this TV might support OTT apps out of the box, with a set-up box bundle likely to sell Jio’s Fiber Broadband with this upcoming TV.
In other news, Reliance will let users buy the phone via the Reliance Digital website, without needing to register for the same, with the smartphone retailing for the same price, but with certain card discounts available.
What Else is the Telco Working on?
For those curious, the JioPhone Next is available in India for Rs 6,499 for the lone 2GB+32GB variant, with the Reliance Digital website offering a 10% instant discount on Yes Bank credits and up to 7.5% off on American Express cards, with EMI options starting at Rs 305.93 on a monthly basis.
The Jio Phone Next boasts impressive features and sufficiently good specifications despite carrying an affordable price tag. Moreover, the phone will come with a device lock feature that restricts access if a consumer fails to pay its EMIs.
Furthermore, the phone runs an optimized version of Android dubbed Pragati OS, which is ideal for Indian users. The phone sports a 5.45-inch display that offers an HD+ (720×1,440 pixels) resolution. Moreover, it has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for additional protection.
