There's no denying the fact that we have been getting tons of conflicting rumors about the samsung Galaxy S23 FE recently. From news regarding it being dead and being replaced by an affordable folding device instead to it coming sooner than expected, we have had it all. All these can surely make your head spin a little.
However, recent reports are suggesting that Samsung will not skip a Galaxy S Fan Edition this year. Instead, Samsung is full-on with Galaxy S23 FE. And the South Korean firm plans to debut it in Q4 2023. But that's not everything recent reports have shed light on. They claim that the device could have a big surprise in store.
Qualcomm on Samsung Galaxy S23 FE?
As you might know, Samsung has ditched its Exynos SoC for the entire Galaxy S23 series. No matter where you pick the devices up from, you will get a Qualcomm 8 Gen 2 SoC. However, Samsung has apparently flipped the script for the Galaxy S23 FE. Instead of a Qualcomm chip, the device will be powered by the Exynos 2200.
Most interestingly, the Galaxy S23 FE could come with the Exynos in all markets, including the USA! To recall, the Exynos 2200 is the same chipset that powered the Galaxy S22 series in EU markets. And it was the first mobile chip with an AMD GPU. Even so, it was a messy SoC, which is probably why Samsung ditched the Exynos lineup in the S23 series.
Now, when the Galaxy S23 FE debuts in Q4 2023, the Exynos 2200 will be nearly two years old. And that means that the device will be much slower and less capable than the flagship Qualcomm SoC of that time frame. But hopefully, Samsung will fix the issues that were present in the S22 lineup and bring out a better Exynos 2200.
Prepare For a Highly Upgraded Rear Camera
Even though the SoC of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE might be disappointing, the cameras will tell you a completely different story. According to the latest reports, the device will bring the biggest rear camera upgrade in the FE lineup. That is, it will feature a large 50MP sensor.
Gizchina News of the week
To look back, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE utilized 12MP cameras. And Samsung has already decided to push the camera limits of its phones with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. So, making the next FE phone get a highly capable sensor on the back makes total sense.
Other Specs of Galaxy S23 FE
Besides the camera and SoC, recent reports have shed light on other specs of the Galaxy S23 FE. The phone will likely come in two storage tiers, 256 GB and 128 GB. Likewise, there will be two RAM options, likely 6 GB and 8 GB. And when it comes to the battery, the phone will pack the same 4500mAh battery as the predecessor.
There's no concrete info regarding the charging speed, though. As Samsung plans to stick with the same 4500mAh battery as the last FE phone, S23 FE could be limited to 25W fast charging. However, Samsung could definitely make the phone more appealing by making the phone support 45W fast charging.
Finally, it seems Samsung will bring the model number of the Galaxy S23 FE in line with the other S line. That is, the S23 FE will have an “SM-S711x” model number. Here, Samsung utilizes the 7xx series of numbers for the Galaxy Z Flip series phones, which indicates that they are high-end devices but not proper flagships.
While all these pieces of info do come from a trustworthy source, you should take everything with a grain of salt. Samsung could change things up before the phone hits the market. But as usual, we will keep you updated when new info comes up.
