Corning has officially announced that Samsung Electronics will use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is a new type of mobile phone panel glass. It is tough and more durable than Gorilla Glass Victus. Samsung will use this new Victus 2 glass in its new Samsung Galaxy S23 flagship series. Of course, it has become common practice for Samsung to launch new screens.
The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 was released in November last year. It uses a new glass composition, which improves the drop resistance while maintaining the same scratch resistance as Victus. According to reports, the 200g testing machine equipped with Vicuts 2 glass can withstand a free fall from a height of 1 meter on a concrete road. On a slightly softer asphalt road, it can withstand a free fall from a height of 2 meters.
“Today’s consumers expect unbreakable mobile phone displays. In all honesty, for more than a decade, Gorilla Glass has met the needs of mobile phone users and set the standard for robust housing materials,” said David Velasquez, vice president and general manager, of Corning Gorilla Glass. He adds “We are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with Samsung and to enable our latest innovations to feature in Samsung’s latest Galaxy smartphones.”
“We are committed to integrating sustainability into our product lifecycles, working with like-minded partners like Corning to improve performance while reducing our impact on the environment,” said Stephanie Choi, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Mobile Experience Business, at Samsung Electronics. Our next-gen Galaxy flagship mobile phones are the first devices to feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This also offers better durability and increased sustainability.”

Samsung Galaxy S23 speculations
Over the past few months, there have been several reports regarding the new Samsung flagship, Galaxy S23 series. Accorsing to recent reports the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will come with some subtle changes in terms of its design. With respect to specific figures, the Samsung Galaxy S23 standard version will have a thickness which are the same on three sides. The left, right and top parts will be 3.0 mm thick. However, the chin will be 0.2 mm thicker with a final figure of 3.2 mm. The diameter of the punch hole is 3.0 mm.
