Samsung unveils a 200MP camera sensor with industry’s smallest pixels

Electronics has announced the ISOCELL HP3 image sensor, an advanced camera solution for next-generation flagship smartphones. The sensor provides a resolution of 200MP.

Also, the 1/1.4-inch sensor has the smallest pixels in the industry at 0.56 micrometers. In comparison with the 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor, this figure is – 12% now.

In addition, the new solution reduces the footprint of the camera module in a smartphone by approximately 20%. And this means that developers will be able to make their devices thinner and optimize the internal design.

Electronics, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, today introduced the 200 MP ISOCELL HP3, the image sensor with the industry’s smallest 0.56-micrometer (μm)-pixels”.

So, Tetra Pixel technology makes it possible to improve the quality of images obtained in low light conditions. They got this by combining four or 16 neighboring pixels into one. In the first case, the operation of a 50-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.12 micrometers is simulated, in the second, a 12.5-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 2.24 micrometers.

has continuously led the image sensor market trend through its technology leadership in high resolution sensors with the smallest pixels,” said JoonSeo Yim, Executive Vice President of Sensor Business Team at Samsung Electronics. “With our latest and upgraded 0.56μm 200MP ISOCELL HP3, Samsung will push on to deliver epic resolutions beyond professional levels for smartphone camera users.”

Also, enhanced Smart-ISO Pro technology uses signal data from high, medium; and low ISO frames to create a composite image with high dynamic range and minimal artifacts.

In addition, You can record video in 8K at 30 fps and 4K at 120 fps. In addition to the Super QPD autofocus system, using all the pixels in the sensor.

Trial deliveries of ISOCELL HP3 have already begun, and mass production will take place in the current year.
