Tesla Legal Representative Of China Steps Down

Despite being a US company, China still remains one of Tesla's largest markets. According to data from China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla Giga Factory Shanghai alone sold a total of 100,291 units. That number is the data recorded for the month of November alone. That was a record monthly growth of 90% year-over-year.

Tesla Sells Most of Its Cars in China

The sale of Tesla cars in China keeps soaring every year. And Tesla wants to keep these numbers rising or at least keep things this way. As part of maintaining its dominance in China, Tesla (Shanghai) co. Ltd has undergone industrial and commercial reshuffling.

Due to this, Zhu Xiaotong had to step down as the legal representative to the EV car maker. This made room for a new legal representative position.  Wang Hao to take over as the new legal representative for Tesla China. The company started in China in 2018 with a starting capital of RMB4.67 billion ($670 million). And of course, the company is wholly owned by Tesla Motors Hong Kong Co. Ltd.

Zhu Xiaotong Still Remains Tesla Chairman

Zhu Xiaotong did step down as the legal representative. But he still remains the chairman of the company. Earlier reports this month suggested that Tesla CEO Elon Musk had found a good candidate that would step in his shoes as the CEO. Many fingers pointed at Tesla's global vice president who also doubles as Greater China CEO Zhu Xiaotong.

But this news seems to become a false news as time passes by. An insider at Tesla ones responded to this claim with the statement: Do you think it's true? Later, Elon Musk himself responded with a tweet on Twitter saying “there is no suitable candidate for Tesla's new CEO.

Zhu Xiaotong joined Tesla Motors in April 2014 as the main project director of Tesla China Supercharge. However, he became the global vice president of Tesla and president of Tesla China. This opportunity came after Wu Bixuan left.

As the President of China Zhu has led a couple localization of the company's products in China. This includes the construction of China Gigafactory in Shanghai.
