Qualcomm and ESL Gaming, the world’s largest e-sports company, have announced that the two parties will jointly launch the Snapdragon Pro series of e-sports leagues with prizes of up to $2 million. It is said that the event will be carried out on the basis of mobile devices equipped with Snapdragon chips. This event is for chips that can bring faster performance, a more stable network connection effect, and can play a PC-like gaming experience.
At the same time, this event will also promote the mobile gaming experience integrating Snapdragon technology, including innovative and customized brand integration. This live event, where master players compete on the same field, includes three types of competitions. We have the Open, Challenge, and Masters events. The event will cover six regions including North America, Europe, the Middle East, China, North Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Specific plans will be official in the next few days, before the end of the month.
Qualcomm and ESL Gaming said that through the “Snapdragon Elite Gaming” technology, they will lead the development of the gaming industry. This will also benefit gamers of different levels and obtain the best gaming experience in the ecosystem.
Qualcomm and ESL Gaming have their say
This collaboration is a good one for both companies and it promotes their individual businesses. Here is what the Chief Commercial Officer at ESL Gaming, Rodrigo Samwell had to say
“The rapid rise of mobile esports is well-documented. We’re incredibly proud of the role ESL has played in that to date. Our new collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and its Snapdragon brand will elevate our mobile ecosystem to its fullest potential…“We’re excited to transform the future of mobile esports for players and fans around the world. We will also continue to create a world where everybody can be somebody.”
Furthermore, the senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., Don McGuire has this to say
“Qualcomm Technologies is all-in on gaming. Snapdragon Elite Gaming has led the industry across the mobile gaming technology stack benefiting gamers at all levels and enabling the ecosystem to deliver best-in-class gameplay…“In partnership with ESL, Snapdragon Pro Series will be an important additional pillar of our comprehensive gaming strategy also allowing us to build category leadership in mobile esports globally.”
This is only an official announcement of the collaboration. However, there are still a lot of things to reveal such as the titles. For a major mobile esports league, the prize pool does not seem to be very large. Nevertheless, this is still a good step for the growth of mobile e-sports globally.
