The Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone’s rear design has surfaced online, showcasing the phone’s new Vivo flagship-like outward appearance. In December 2021, Xiaomi unveiled its 12-series of smartphones in its home country of China. The flagship series includes the standard Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X smartphones. However, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra wasn’t a part of the series at the time.
Despite the lack of an official confirmation, the rumor mill has been churning out a lot of speculations surrounding the phone’s key specifications lately. On top of that, a new report now claims that Xiaomi 12 Ultra is headed to multiple markets. As if that weren’t enough, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone’s rear design has popped up on Weibo. The leak suggests that the handset will sport a massive rear camera module. Furthermore, the leaker suggests that the phone’s design is similar to Vivo’s upcoming flagship offering.
Xiaomi 12 Ultra Rear Design
The alleged piece of information comes via a Weibo post from a reputed leaker Digital Chat Station. According to the leak, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra features a mammoth camera module at the back. This rear-mounted camera setup extends across the handset’s entire width.
Furthermore, the outer part could adopt a rectangular shape. Likewise, the centrally aligned circular interior section will probably serve as a real estate for the camera sensors. Aside from that, DCS suggests that the design layout is likely to bear a resemblance to the outward appearance of Vivo’s upcoming flagship smartphone.
What Else To Expect?
Moreover, Vivo’s flagship offering might feature a circular camera module on the left. If past leaks are anything to go by, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will house four cameras at the back, featuring a 5x periscope telephoto lens. Also, this is likely to be the highest optical zoom lens included on a smartphone at the time of launch. Some reports suggest that the handset will have Leica cameras. Aside from that, the phone has a curved display with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera in the center.
Under the hood, the phone could pack Xiaomi’s in-house Surge chips, just like other previously launched Xiaomi 12 series smartphones. Furthermore, these chips are reportedly capable of enhancing the smartphone’s image quality. In the post, DCS compares the alleged Xiaomi handset to the flagship Vivo handset, which could be the X80 series. If this speculation proves to be true, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and the X80 flagship series could feature identical camera setups with a subtle difference. The Vivo’s phone camera module will be towards the left. However, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s camera set up will be aligned to the center.
